David J. Hergan, M.D., M.S. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained in orthopaedic sports medicine and arthroscopy. He is an orthopaedic surgeon/team physician for Wesleyan University athletics, assistant team physician/orthopeadic consultant for The Connecticut Whale (AHL) professional hockey team and Coginchaug High School Football.
Dr. Hergan attended Colgate University in Hamilton, NY for his premedical studies, completing his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology. He attended medical school at The Chicago Medical School completing a combined degree program, graduating with a Master of Science in Physiology along with his M.D. During medical school he was named to Alpha Omega Alpha, the prestigious medical honor society.
After completing his orthopedic surgical residency at The Medical College of Wisconsin followed by a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at NYU/The Hospital for Joint Diseases, Dr. Hergan is able to address problems of the shoulder, knee, hip and elbow with the latest and most innovative minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Hergan has a special interest in arthroscopy of the hip to treat labral tears and impingement.
