The Day Before Surgery

Please call us the day prior to your surgery to review your surgical time and your arrival time.  Please call 860-346-2267 between the hours of 2 pm- 4:30 pm for this information.

The Night Before Surgery

Please arrange for a responsible relative or adult friend to drive you home. Patients recovering from anesthesia are not allowed to drive. If anesthesia is used you must have  someone to stay with you for the first 24 hours at home after your surgery.

Before you go to sleep, you should have a high protein snack such as crackers with cheese and/or peanut butter. IT'S IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT UNLESS INSTRUCTED BY OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF.

The Morning of Surgery

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING INCLUDING CHEWING GUM, CANDY OR WATER UNLESS INSTRUCTED BY OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF. You may brush your teeth.

***YOUR OPERATION MAY BE CANCELLED IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE GUIDELINES.***

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing so it will be easier to change before and after surgery.
  • Please do not wear contact lenses, make-up, nail polish or jewelry.
  • Leave all your valuables at home, including money and wallet.
  • Please remember to bring your ID and insurance cards and completed claim forms.
  • Do not take your prescription medication on the morning of surgery unless instructed to do so by our professional staff.

Special Circumstances

Patients under the age of 18 years old MUST have a parent or legal guardian accompany them to the Surgery Center and remain at the Surgery Center until the patient is discharged. Parental consent is required for minors to receive medical, surgical and anesthesia services.

We recognize that a parent's presence is very comforting to a child. You may stay with your child until they are brought to the operating room. Parents and child are reunited in the recovery room as soon as possible after surgery.
